In HIST 365, we will be using 4 online course platforms. I know some of you are having “platform fatigue” but there are specific reasons behind the use of each of these platforms. I promise you that my system is MUCH BETTER than simply using Blackboard!
hist365.opened.ca
- The course website is where all information about the course is located, including course schedule, requirements, assigned readings, posted video/audio lectures, and where you will submit your final projects.
- Any questions you have about course policies, structure, format… it is all on the course website!
Zoom
- All live classes (lectures and discussion) will take place via Zoom.
- The Zoom link for class will be posted on the chatboard and on Blackboard in the “content” section.
Chatboard
- This chatboard will be used for the “on demand” discussion portion of the course.
- All course communication will also take place on the chatboard.
- There is a thread specifically for questions related to the recorded lectures and readings. Please post there if you have questions about anything!
- Please use the chatboard to communicate WITH ME (rather than email) via Direct Message.
- To sign up for the chatboard, please see the link I sent via email. It is also posted in the “content” section of our Blackboard course (for security reasons).
Blackboard
- Blackboard will be used for submission of most assignments (except for the final project).
- Blackboard will also house links to the chatboard and Zoom classes for security (as our course website is open access).
